Default bold (or unbold) section of text instead of bold toggling

Is there an easy way to turn bold on or off for an entire section of text? Ctrl-B (or clicking B in the toolbar) toggles bold, but if some text is already bold and some is not and I want to change everything to be one or the other, it can be time consuming.

Is it possible to change the behavior of Ctrl-B so the first time I click it bolds (or unbolds) everything selected instead of toggling everything? It seems like I've seen that behavior, but maybe it was in another tool.

Thanks!

Select the entire range then apply or remove the 'Strong' character Style.

Hi Paul,

Thank you for your response. How specifically do I apply a 'Strong' character Style?

Cheers,
Burt

The same as you'd apply any other built-in Style, via the Styles pane. You could even assign a shortcut key to it. Selecting the same range and pressing Ctrl-Spacebar will remove the attribute.

Note that with some QuickStyle Sets "Strong" style is something other than Bold. I doubt this will be a problem for you.

(I went so far as to repurpose the Ctrl+B command to apply the strong style on my computer. The equivalent style for Italics is the Emphasis style. There is no Bold+Italics style built-in.)
