Cant sort margins in frame page frame documents
Hi people
Hoping someone can help I use a Word framespage with hyperlinks to documents that are called up into particular frames according to the links and bookmarks I set. My Framespage utilizes 8 frames for this purpose I changed from office 2010 to 2019 and when I opened my framespage the text in each frame was contrained as though it has about a 1cm margin on both the left and right side of the text. each of the frames has the same issue I tried changing Margins settings but no effect. Is there another setting controlling this effect. there was no such issue in word 2010 Thanks in advance for any help I receive - I will be grateful Last edited by Zakko; 04-03-2019 at 08:01 PM. Image Showing wide margins? issue
This image shows the issue - the text in each frame should go to the farthest left and farthest right of each frame column
Instead theres aboiut a CM to the leftr and right of each, like there were tabs there constraining everything in those columns to be between those 1 cm margins. Changing Margins settings seems to do nothing.....at ALL. Last edited by Zakko; 04-04-2019 at 03:29 PM. |

UPDATE: The issue is a WEB LAYOUT VIEW issue
I found Margin controls work if I changed to print view, but also my kool color background vanished to white
But "WEB LAYOUT" view is supposed to use maximum area for text, so no margins, which is how it worked in my word 2010. But in Word 2019 web layout adds margins to left & right of about 1 CM which cant seem to be turned off. Web Layout is the view I use for the best effect for what my framepage hub is for. Now I have defined the issue better, can anyone help? thanks in advance Last edited by Zakko; 04-04-2019 at 04:28 PM. Reason: error fix |

Can you post a cut down version of your frameset doc?
I've never used frames in a Word document but I assume the border standoffs would be controllable via the associated CSS if you exported to html. There must be a setting to control these aspects in Word but I need to experiment with a document that demonstrates these frames.

Frameset doc
Just realized what you mean
attached copy of the doc - it will seek the files when opened but should replace with new doc proxies |

Sorry Zakko, I can't figure it out either.
I saved to html and set the margins to zero there and a browser can open the frameset showing no margins but opening again in Word brings back the larger margins. I also experimented with the settings in docx xml and tried setting document compatibility mode back to Word2010 and that didn't work either.

No one from Microsoft checks in here, reviews what is said here, or answers questions here. You are talking to your fellow users. BTW, as a web tool, Word makes a good pencil. Word has never been good for generating web pages. |

RE: Word not a web tool
Yeah, get that...
but I am not using word as a web tool My Framespage is a tool I use to navigate my life, tasks, info, goals, interests etc The 'Web Layout' view is good as it, [is meant to] doesn't use margims in the frame columns meaning I get full usage of width for text. Anyone got any workarounds for this... its kinda a dealbreaker re word 2019 for me. Might have to go back to an earlier version, otherwise Re Microsoft people not checking in... does this billion dollar company do anything to support the users that make it a billion dollar company????? |

Yes, they do. However, that does not mean monitoring third-party sites like this. Why did you change to 2019 if Word 2010 does what you want? You can have both installed on your computer. I do. |
