Freezes in Word 365

Has anyone else experienced issues with MS Word 365 where the document will seem to auto-save once every 2-3 minutes and while it does, Word is frozen for roughly 20-to-30 seconds? It is without a doubt one of the most frustrating things I've ever had to deal with using an office suite before and reason enough to downgrade back to W7. Anyone else, and if so, did you find a workaround to fix it? I've checked online and there are about a dozen people with the same issue on the official MS forums, but the moderators lock the topics without giving any resolution... none of the other program on my computer lag, only MS Word 365, and it only started a couple of patches ago at the beginning of this year.
