I use Word 2003. I have a 250-page document that is divided into several chapters. I have a title page and a couple of Index pages that I do not want numbered. I would like to start my page numbering on the first chapter. The catch is, I want the chapter title next to the page number.
My problem is that for some reason, and there is no pattern to it, Word doesn't always start and stop the chapter titles where I have inserted the section breaks. I don't get it. I have even gone in and "unlinked" all of the sections from the previous sections. I have used the online help, both reading information and watching video clips. I just can't figure it out. I should also point out that I have this document set up for odd-even pages, and I did figure out that I have to put the chapter name in separately for the odd and even page footers. I would greatly appreciate any help that anyone might be able to offer me. Thank you. |
