Blank page after section break
I am getting a blank page after a section break. It has to do with odd/even sections. i understand is has to do with Word placing Odd sections on the right hand side of the document. Is there a way to keep the blank page from occurring. I've tried fixing it by changing the Odd section to an Even section, and that corrects the blank page issue but then the pagination is off, the "Corrected" section displays page ii, not page i. Would appreciate any help in solving this issue. Thanks George O'Reilly |

This is the purpose of an odd-page section break. It is an alternative to a next-page section break which will have no blanks but may start the next section on an even-numbered page.
It is possible to use a field that will create a header/footer that says "this page intentionally blank" or something of the sort and give it a page number. Create a non-blank, even-numbered page at the end of a chapter |

Thank you So, if a section ends on an odd page, Word will create a blank even page in order to place the next section starting on an odd page? There is no workaround for this ? I have used "next page section breaks throughout the document, every section works well except for the one I'm having an issue with, appears that Word is doing what it's supposed to, issue it my lack of knowledge Should I just accept the Word changes to my document and proceed? Thanks again George --------- In your reply to someone else having this problem on March 6 2018, you stated "The Next Page section break will always start a new page. That there is a blank page after it before other text means something else is going on. Try using Shift+F1 and other Reveal Formatting techniques to figure it out. Look for more page or section breaks and for formatting in the text following the blank page that would cause a page break. Paragraph formatting that may be involved: Page break before Keep with next (most heading styles) Keep lines together" |

The workaround is to use a Next-Page Section break rather than an Odd-Page section break. Quote:
I stand by what I said then and what I've told you. They are completely consistent. This is my chapter on how Sections work, including section breaks. Sections / Headers and Footers in Microsoft Word (Ribbon Versions) |

Note that if you are restarting page numbering (to an odd number), Word will add a "filler" page even if the type of section break is Next Page. Odd-numbered pages are for right-hand pages and even-numbered pages for left-hand pages; Word will enforce this strictly.
