Line numbers in word
I am trying to produce a comprehension book and want to put line numbers on sections of text throughout the book starting at Line 5. The problem is that when I add in Line numbers it automatically produces a section break at the end of the text I have selected and I don't want this. I have questions attached to each section which I want to run underneath the selected text with line numbers. It does not work using numbering as that gives a different number with each paragraph. Please can someone help? |

If you want to turn on/off the line numbering for different areas then you will have to include continuous section breaks and turn on the numbering for the discrete sections.

Thank you. Would you mind letting me know how to do this step by step as I am not sure I fully understand.

I hope, but do not know, that someone here can give step by step for Word for the Mac 2001-2004. I cannot.
Here is my page on sections for the menu versions of Word for Windows. Sections / Headers and Footers in Microsoft Word 97-2003 In the comparable Windows version Insert > Break gives this dialog: The link goes to a page on how sections work and what effect they have on a document's structure. It explains what the different kind of section breaks are.
