How to create a "Font color" button and a "Highlight text" button in the Quick Launch toolbar ?
Hi!
(sorry for my english) I'm working on Word 365 on Mac. Does anyone know how to create a "Font color" button and a "Highlight text" button in the Quick Launch toolbar ? I've tried every possible manner but never succeeded. Many thanks. |

Simplest: Right click on the control in the Ribbon and select add to QAT.
Otherwise: Modifying the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) in Microsoft Word
The command for highlighting is Text Highlight Color. |

Thanks for answering...but it doesn't help : right clicks on a control (any control) have no effect, at least on my Mac.

It is likely to depend on what version of Office 365 you are using as to what options you have available.

Historically, Mac/Office users have not been happy about the differences between Windows and Mac versions of Office. |

Do you have the latest edition of Word? It is only the latest versions (16.15+ I believe) on the Mac that allows editing the QAT. If you go into the Edit the Quick Access Toolbar dialog you should be able to find the commands under the Home Tab. You need to use the drop-down to change the area from which to choose commands. It should also be under "All Commands." |

Thanks for answering.
I use the latest version of Office 365. Unfortunately, I already knew everything mentioned in the link you posted. Adding the Font Color control to the Quick Access Toolbar seems just impossible |

@ Charles Kenyon : I've updated my profile...although I still use Office 2003 with Windows 7 at home. But actually, my main concerns are with Office 365 for Mac
@ Moonshine : thanks. Unfortunately it seems I won't be able to do what I want to do. The link confirms what I had experienced : MS reduced to 125 commands only what you can add to the QAT... And I think no simple macro can just do what I want : display a dropdown menu to let me choose the font color... Office 2003 is the best version for my own use : simply and highly customizable. |

The QAT is pretty simple but to do good things with the Ribbon takes extra skills. They made the UI harder to customize at the request of IT Nazis in corporate America.
Here's a custom ribbon tab: It was a lot of work, but now I can change the menus just by creating/deleting/moving templates. |

I haven't tried it on Mac, but it should. I know that XML modifications to create a new Ribbon tab should.
It is XML and vba. I know that XML modifications work on the Mac and vba generally works fine so long as it is using Word functions. When dealing with file structure it may need alternative programming. The XML is still a stretch. Here is my goto resource: RibbonX: Customizing the Office Ribbon by Robert Martin, Ken Puls, and Teresa Hennig Note that Office 365 on the Mac is a swiftly moving target. On the forums, a disproportionate number of problems arise from the Mac version. It may just be that Windows users are more used to problems and ignore them, but I don't think so. Significant revisions to the Mac version happen quickly and are expected. Sometimes there are bugs in the release version. I believe Microsoft is working very hard to satisfy Mac users. |

Well, that's a challenge, as I only know some VBA (and understad even less) and none of XML... (not to mention my relatively poor english...).
