Default How to change default text box settings in Word 2016

I would like to change the default settings for a text box in a particular Word 2016 document. I inserted a text box, changed the outline color and the font color, right clicked the text box and selected "Set as default text box", saved the document, but when I inserted another text box, it still had Microsoft's default settings and not the settings that I just tried to make the default for this document. What am I doing wrong?

So, once you are done formatting a text box:
  1. Select it.
  2. Press Alt+F3 (or under Insert Textbox add to Text Boxes Gallery)
  3. Choose the Text Box gallery
  4. Assign a name like "_MyTextbox"
  5. OK to save
