Default Fonts not displaying right

One minor issue is with fonts in Word (and Outlook). Some fonts including TrueType appear in the dropdown selection and in Styles but do not display correctly in the document.

This is not a problem in Excel.

Could you show us an example of what you see? A screen shot would be helpful.

Hi, thank you. In this screenshot the text is selected and assigned to the Charlesworth font. While it displays correctly in the dropdown selection list, it does not manifest itself in the document.

Do you see the problem with just that particular font?

No, only with more "exotic" or interesting ones. I haven't done an exhaustive examination, but Algerian seen in that list works, but not DS-Digital, Judascaps, or Ironwood.

I'm afraid that Word may be very picky about "non-standard" fonts.

See if Word is substituting the font (File | Options | Advanced | Font Substitution).

Thank you for your continued assistance.

I should have added that Word is only doing this font issue on a new computer at work. The previous computer at work had the same Word without this font issue. My home computer has the same Word and also displays the fonts just fine. My IT guy at work is stumped, thus I'm reaching out here.

I navigated to the Font Substitution button under "Show document content," and it displayed the dialog box shown here in a screen-shot.

I don't know much about fonts but it might be worth checking the printer driver since Word lays out the document using the printer driver settings for the fonts. If you change the default printer does the font still display incorrectly.

Yes. I too was wondering if some printer driver needs to be reinstalled...
