Autotext entry is taking the cursor to next line/new line
I am creating a new autotext by selecting the test as below as well as the pilcrow generated for the paragraph mark by MS Word.
Madam: Introduction ?¶ but when I include the pilcrow in the Autotext, when the autotest is applied by typing the short text for that autotext and F3 key, it inserts the autotext and puts the curson into the next line/new line. But I want the cursor to stay at the end of the text "Madam: Introduction ?¶" not go to the new line. Does anyone know how I can achieve this ? Also to apply a paragraph style does it need to go from end of paragraph ¶ tp the beginning of Paragraph ¶ mark? |

When a paragraph mark is included in an AutoText entry, a whole paragraph will be added by the AutoText, and the insertion point goes to the next paragraph.
Instead, what you have to do is recreate the AutoText entry and be sure to exclude the paragraph when you create it. In the Create New Building Block dialog box, select "Insert content in its own paragraph." This will create an entry which preserves paragraph formatting without moving the insertion point to the next paragraph as you insert it.

Stefan has answered your question I believe.
To include a paragraph style, the paragraph mark must be included in the entry. You could also use AutoCorrect. |

Hello Stefan and Charles, thank you for the reply. But what we are trying to achieve is, to apply a different style into an already existing paragraph using Autotext. And if the Pilcrow is excluded then the different style is not applied to the already existing paragraph, rather it follows the style of the existing paragraph (which we don't want)....
Thank you for your help... I will research more... |

You are using the wrong tool to include the style if you do not want the paragraph. Sorry. You can attach keyboard shortcuts to styles. You can use the Organizer to import one or more styles. See also A Global StyleSheet in Microsoft Word? |

Sorry, my previous reply was misleading. :-(
As you have noticed, paragraph formatting (including paragraph styles) won't be stored in the AutoText entry unless you include a paragraph mark as you create the entry.

Hello Stefan, to include the paragraph formatting/style we are including the Pilcrow (Paragraph Mark) with the autotext, but as we are doing it, when the autotext is inserted it's also inserting a hard return in the end. Promoting us to press backspace every time we enter that autotext. I am still looking for a solution for this occurrence.

That pillcrow is a hard return, among other things.
Again, try using other methods for transferring styles if AutoText is causing problems. |

I'm afraid that there is no fix for this. :-( I initially thought that using the Building Block/AutoText option to insert content into a new paragraph would help, but it doesn't, because making use of that option doesn't force Word to include paragraph-level formatting (such as paragraph styles) with the AutoText entry. You simply need the paragraph mark (¶) to be included, and this will make the insertion point move a paragraph down the page.

Thank you Stefan and Charles both for your patience and replies.
Do you know of any other way to apply two different paragraph styling into one paragraph by means of using Autotext? |
