Highlighted text won't delete - when I press enter
When I highlight text and press enter, it doesn’t delete the text. (it used to). If I highlight text and press delete or backspace it does delete and if I press a key (other than enter) it will overwrite. I’ve checked Tools / options / edit / typing replaces selection
This box is checked. It’s just "enter" that no longer deletes highlighted text as it should. Anyone know the fix? |

Hi, thanks for your reply,
Sorry if I wasn’t clear when I said “If I highlight text and press delete or backspace it does delete…”. In answer to your question, yes, I did try pressing delete and yes this does delete the text. This however does not solve my problem. For a number of reasons, it is preferable for me to use “enter” rather than “delete” or “backspace” to delete highlighted text. This is a normal function in word. For some reason this setting has been changed on my computer. Incidentally, when I highlight text and press enter in Wordpad, the text does delete, so the problem is Microsoft Word specific and not related to a generalized keyboard setting on my machine.
