Default What's with the New Spell Check?

When I click spell check an editor box opens up on the right hand side and it very slowly goes through my 324,000 word document noting all the possible errors, but it is so slow! I am not liking this update. Can anyone help me? Is there a way to go back to the old way?

There is not, as of today. There is a macro that worked for a while, then stopped working, then started working, and now does not.
