![]() I haven't noticed in prior versions of Office that I have used but in Word and Excel 2019, everything I open, including files that I created, show up first as read-only. Is there a way to tell Word/Office to stop that? I couldn't find a way to turn this "feature" off. Thanks. |

Where are the affected files stored?

Most of the time, the files are on one of my hard drives. This happens on two different computers as well, one with Office 2016 and my home computer with Office 2019. Of course, in Windows 10 there is a challenge to get the right to change properties of files or add files to my drive, but that's for a different list.

Intermittent issues are difficult to diagnose, of course. Can you see any pattern at all (such as specific folders being affected more than others, etc.)?
