I recently upgraded from Office 2007 to Office 2019. When I brought up a document in Word 2019 that is full of footnotes, they were all changed, without action on my part, from single-spaced with one blank line between notes to double-spaced. Also, Word 2019 added a big blank area between the separator line and the first note on the page. Plus there's a very large space between the last note and the bottom of the page, way more than a 1" margin.
I tried to modify the "footnote" style but I was unable to change anything that made a difference. In fact, I found an Endnote style but not a footnote style. So 1. What can I do to undo the double-spacing of footnotes? 2. Remove the blank line between the footnote separator line and the first footnote? 3. Shrink the space after the last footnote on a page? This was bad in Word 2007. Now it's worse. My experience here is consistent. Each time I upgrade to a new version of Office, things get harder to do and things get messed up. I wish they'd stop doing new versions. They aren't getting any better or making life easier. |
