Question Table of content pushes down content on update

I have a big document with a lot of headers and tables. This document has a Table of content which is constantly updated with new content or updated content.

My problem is that once I update the Table of Content, it pushes all of the content down if new lines are added to the ToC. This results in: splitting of well organized tables, putting header titles at the end of the page with the content of the header starding on the next page.

Is it somehow possible to stop this from happening?

Thank you in advance for any suggestion

Put a new page section break after the TOC and then it will remain separate from the text of the document.

Long term, organize your document properly and this will not happen.

Use the built-in heading styles.
Why use Microsoft Word’s built-in heading styles? by Shauna Kelly

They are set to keep with the following paragraph.

When you want to start a new page mark the beginning paragraph with paragraph formatting of "page break before." I often do this with the Heading 1 style.

To add to what Charles has said, you can also apply "Keep with next" formatting to table rows if you want to control where the breaks fall in a table.

However, depending on the setup of your document, adding a section break after the table of contents may also be useful.
