Corporately we have both local and on-lien versions of word. An update to my local copy of word now renders a certain document which crashes it almost immediately and certainly after an edit or a bit of scrolling. If I use the on-line version of word, it doesn't crash, but then you cannot use revision marking.
I'm trying to edit a document shared amongst a committee group (hence the desirability of rev marking). The failure seems to be associated with something in the header or footer - which looks benign although a high word count of disclaimers... and auto page numbering. Thought it was the local install but have run a repair, also have had other open the document and crash on other machines so it may be something to do with an upgrade to my version of word... because it didn't crash before! Ideas ? Aside of using the on-line version of word to strip the headers and footers as this seems to me to be a MS update issue ? |

It's possible the document has acquired some of corruption. Corrupt documents can often be 'repaired' by inserting a new, empty, paragraph at the very end, copying everything except that new paragraph to a new document based on the same template (headers & footers may need to be copied separately), closing the old document and saving the new one over it.
It's also possible a fault has developed in your Office installation. You might try repairing it (via Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > Microsoft Office (version) > Change > Repair).
