Default Printing page numbers - Office 365 for Mac

I have entered page numbers into a document. Although the page numbers appear at the bottom of the page on the screen, when I print the document I get "{PAGE}" on each page instead of the page number. I have not encountered this before.

Many thanks for your quick response. It appears that on a Mac another print setting also requires a change.

I had not posted on this forum before, so I posted on the other as a "backup." Again, my thanks.

By the way, your profile here is for a Windows 10 computer running Office 2010. You should update that. I would appreciate it if in the Answers forum you could mark it as an Answer and give it an appropriate helpful rating. That way it will show up when someone else looks for help there.

I am running both a Mac and a Windows 10 platform, just to make life complicated. On the Index/sign-in page, the topic is shown as "Solved." But, maybe there is another form of rating?

I meant in the other forum. I see that you appropriately marked Bob Jones response as the answer. He was the one who pointed out that you also need to make sure you are not set to print field codes. Displaying them will always print them, but even with them not displayed, that print option can still print them.

For future reference, it should seldom be necessary to post in multiple forums. When it is, you should provide a link in each forum. That is called cross-posting. For cross-posting etiquette, please read: http://www.excelguru.ca/content.php?184

Many thanks for the reminder. I have read the advisory article, and I am in total agreement.

I believe that what confused me is the fact that both forums are shown as Microsoft forums. Since the opening windows are different, however, I concluded that maybe they are not the same forum; hence, I took the risk of posting a second time. Thanks for the explanation.

Gordon
