Default Multi-Page Printing Cant Print in Proper Page Order

Word 2007

So I am using the Page Layout for printing, because I want 2 pages to show per landscape 8.5x11 with borders on each page. (If I cant get borders here, I cant do that through Acrobat)

However for some reason I cant make it print in the correct order, meaning, in a real book, the ODD page is always on the right.

When I printed the first time, it printed

_______________________

PAGE 189 (Blank Page)
_______________________

so I decide I insert a blank page at the very beginning of the doc, HOPEFULLY pushing the 189 over to the right side and be like this

_______________________

PAGE 188 PAGE 189
_______________________

Instead it does this:

_______________________

PAGE 189 PAGE 190
_______________________

What other way do I have to edit this to make it right?
How do I make the first page start with like, zero?

(I feel like I am back in 1985 typing the "images" like that above LMAO)

Print layout view will always show page 1 on the left if you are displaying 2 pages per screen.

If you print duplex and bind your document on the left you should get the desired result.

You are trying to print two logical pages per one printed page? That is handled in the Print menu.

You can insert a next-page section break at the beginning of your document and restart page numbering at 1 for the new section. In the first section (the blank page) go into the header or footer and select "Different First Page" to eliminate the page number.

For pdf, I find that I get the best appearance doing this by formatting my original document as being legal size rather than letter size. The pdf prints on letter-size paper. Otherwise, I get very large top/bottom margins.

Thanks for your help...

I did that "Different First Page" thing and that doesnt do anything except not show the page 1 number and just start with #2 as usual on the right side, whether I have an empty page to start or not. In other words, the page number on the right on the first 2-page page is still #2 no matter what...

I need to change that to #1 just like in real books, not sure why this is so hard, its weird.... why would it be wrong by default?

I think you missed the part about inserting a section break (not a page break) and restarting numbering at 1 in section two.

It is not that hard. It is not default because you are asking Word to do something that is not natural.

If you print one page per sheet with duplex it works fine. You would not want Word printing a blank page for you.

If you want hard, try setting it up so that you can stack it up and staple in the center!
