Modify Custom Tabs and Groups
I created a number of icons in a .dotm file, and placed them in a custom group on the ribbon.
Then I needed to have them accessible in every document, so I tried to record them as universal macros that I saved to normal.dotm. So now they "live" in a different location. I had no problem assigning icons to these macros in the custom group when they were part of the .dotm file. But when I place universal macros into the custom group on the ribbon, there doesn't appear to be a way to modify them. I can't figure out how to assign icons to each macro. Could someone please help? Thanks! |

The ribbon customisation needs to be done to either your Normal.dotm template or the working template can be loaded as an addin.
If you were happy with the template as it previously worked, but it only worked when 'attached' then you could just load that template as an addin. The simplest way to do that is to save the template into your %appdata%/Microsoft/Word/Startup folder. If you need more info, you will need to provide a clearer description of your problem. Did you use the built-in GUI to add the ribbon customisations or some other (better) method? Are the macros in the same template as as the ribbon customisations? Do you want this to work on machines other than your own?
