Thanks -- you've referred me to that article before. I am concerned though, as to whether all the points I've listed here can be solved by styles and by the content in her excellent article as good as it is. If even one of the above -- such as managing separate fonts for Hindi and English -- cannot be solved by styles, then I will have to delink the TOC to take care of this manually.

I've just read through the article you reference by Suzanne Barnhill, and of the points I've mentioned above, there are several for which I do not see a solution: Hindi and English with different fonts and pt sizes, inserting a "/" between the Hindi and English titles, starting the chapter numbering only after the fifth chapter (the first five--Preface, Editor's Note, etc--are not numbered chapters in the book). The last of these may have a solution which I missed, but I did not see anything for the others. If those cannot be solved via styles, then I'll have to delink the TOC to finish my work anyway, so might as well just take care of the above points manually.
Reviewing the points I listed, it would be really helpful if you could let me know if you think they can all be solved via styles.
