Changing page from 8x11in to 5x8in?

Hello! I have a horrible problem :/ I'm changing my manuscript from the standard 8x11 on Word to 5x8 for book trim. When I change it in page setup the page is SUPER small and holds like 2-4 words per sentence. I've tried everything, videos online, adjusting the margins, I don't understand how to fix it I'm sure it's a simple problem if I knew how.



An example is it looks like this. Totally normal page set up. Long normal sentences.

THEN it turns into this:
