Wink Merging or Cut and Paste

Has anyone had a situation where they have a document with a lot of tables and figures in it, and need to do a ton of insertions and deletions to it? People are sending me things to insert, there's a lot to delete too. Yesterday, I created a test version of the document so I could try comparing and merging what needs to be inserted; I tried different ways of mergin---creating a new document and merging the changes in along with the old document,I also tried merging the changes into the old document without creating the new one.
It created a big mess, so I went back to cutting and pasting the insertions and deleting content instead.

Does anyone out there know of a better way to approach this? Please answer---I have a very tight deadline soon.

Maybe track changes would be appropriate to use. Send people original document, turn on track changes, let them do changes and then you can just accept/reject them.

As to your problem. Try "Compare and Merge Documents" function.

You will find it in "Tools" in the upper format.

Let me know whether it helped.

Mike
