A single Word document will not print.

Hi all from a new member.
I've searched the forum using keywords 'document will not print' but didn't find an applicable thread. If there is one, I'll move this post to that thread.

I'd be grateful if you could solve this puzzle:
I've never had a problem printing Word documents with either of my printers, but I created a new one a few days ago, which only consists of a dozen words in Calibri and then Arial fonts, suitably positioned on the page so as to fit on a pre-printed pro forma. It simply will not print, and the alert I get is this:

Quote:

There is insufficient memory or disc space; Word cannot display the requested font
I'd appreciate help: many thanks.

Exit all applications, then use File Explorer to navigate to:
C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Local\Temp
and delete everything in that folder. Windows may complain a few are in use; you can ignore those. You can then re-start Word and your document should behave.

document will not print

Thanks, macropod, for your reply (which suggested a rather drastic remedy - to my untrained eye - ) but having followed your instructions, I have to report that the phenomenon continues to occur, with the same alert/warning. I would appreciate further ideas, if you have any.

It's possible the document has acquired some of corruption. Corrupt documents can often be 'repaired' by inserting a new, empty, paragraph at the very end, copying everything except that new paragraph to a new document based on the same template (headers & footers may need to be copied separately), closing the old document and saving the new one over it.

Thanks, macrodot, for your continued help.
Sadly, however, I have to report no success at all. So I've scrapped all of the documents and created a new one, but that wouldn't print either. I have to conclude, therefore, that the bug/virus is in the desktop shortcut which is what I use when I want to open a new Word document. A scan of the shortcut (using IObit Pro Malware Fighter) shows nothing malicious.... so now I'm stuck -- again.

I would appreciate your comments.

Problem solved!

More by accident than design I went into WINWORD compatibility and ran the troubleshooter -- hey, bingo! -- everything seems to be back to normal. Apparently my Word programme had been superseded, and therefore my very recent documents could not be recognised.

I'm so relieved! Now I can get back to work and some more documentation.

Meanwhile, macrodot, thanks for your interest and assistance.
