Smile Figure of Tables and Figures

I am working on a document with tables and figures. Right now, after my table of contents, I have a listing of tables and figures with their page numbers in the document. The problem I am having is that I can only seem to pull in the tables and not the figures. In my caption, everthing is defined as a Figure and when I insert my List of Figures under References, I can only pick one choice----either Figures or Tables. I pick Figures, which is why all captions are defined as Figures. All Tables and their corresponding page numbers are then seen. The Figures are missing. How do I pull these in? I don't see anything different I can do when setting up the Caption or when I update or insert the List of Figures. Does anyone know the answer to this? I need an answer badly. The document has to be finished soon.

Try to apply the style called "Table of figures" to text you want to include in it.
