Default Creating PDF in track changes - simple track changes only

Dear All,

I have modified my document, I have stopped the track changes but have not accepted insertions and deletions and I want to create a PDF which only shows the red line at the side (so a PDF of the "read view" or "simple changes").

I have tried all the things suggested to resolve Kevska's problem (see below) and I can still only create a) a PDF of the finished document with no track-changes and no red line at the side; or b) a PDF which shows the red line at the side but also the insertions and deletions within the text.

In "Advanced Options", If I put insertions and deletions to "none", my PDF shows me the line on the left hand side but also the changes in the text, just there is no indication of what is inserted and what is deleted (e.g. the old text was "conclusions d'appel" the new text is "conclusions en response et recapilatives" and my PDF shows "conclusions d'appelen reponse et recapitulatives" without distinguishing that "d'appel" has been deleted and "en response et recapitulatives" has been inserted).

I can accept the deletions and leave the insertions but then, when I get to my numbered paragraphs, my PDF still shows me both the old number and the new number.

Any help much appreciated!

To see what is an insertion and what is a deletion, you can't set them to be hidden in the Advanced Track Changes dialog box. Instead, you will have to choose some other appropriate option (perhaps different colors).

Mmm yes, but in my PDF, I don't want them to show up. I want to see the finished clean document but with a line on the left hand side denoting where there have been changes.

I want to make a PDF of the "simple changes" view.

You can always specify that you want the same color (black, for example) for both insertions and deletions.

Yes thanks that’s what I have at the moment.

But what I want is a PDF which shows a vertical red (or black or whatever) line on the left hand side of the page where there have been changes but the text shows *only* the finished version.

What I am able to do at the moment is either i) a PDF of the finished document with no vertical line (of any colour) anywhere; or ii) a PDF with vertical lines where changes have been but also, in the text, those changes, both deletions & insertions.

I want the same thing as Kevka (see below) but the things suggested for him do not work. That is I want a PDF of what you see on the screen when, in track changes, you have the “simple changes” view.

Hmm, I'm missing something, probably because I never make use of the "Simple Markup" view myself.

If hiding deletions while displaying insertions does not work for you, then I don't know what to suggest next. Sorry

You can format the deletions as hidden and the insertion colour as black. You can also format the change bar to be whatever colour you prefer.

There are multiple ways to produce a PDF. If you can show the document in Simple Markup and it appears as you want the PDF then try Printing to PDF rather than SaveAs.

Also try a third party tool to create the PDF such as Adobe Acrobat or Nitro PDF.
