Images gone from a word doc.

Hi All



I am having some issues with my word 2007.
To start with

1) I had a document with images

and then suddenly today I find , the document is intact but all images from the doc. are gone
all I see is placeholders: (pl. see link attached below)
I have No idea why.
Any help here will be appreciated.

Any one with any ideas, as to how this could have happened. The content images disappear while the text remains 100 % intact. It seems word saves images or references the images to some other source and if that source is taken out, the images fall off. ?? but is it so ?
