How to remove blank spaces in Word 2016 for Mac

I am using Word for Mac 2016. I am having a problem.

I copied and pasted an article with pictures into a blank word doc. I only want the text so I deleted the picture. I am now left with a large space where the picture was, how do I get rid of that blank space?



I have tried using the "styles pane - clear formatting" and "normal" and that does nothing.

My goal in this is to have all the text on one page.

Most likely, your document has blank paragraphs (¶) "left behind" where the images were located. Click the ¶ icon on the Home tab to display nonprinting marks; this will show you what you are dealing with.
