Default Help needed with page numbering

I need to create page numbers in the format 1-0.1, 2-0.2, etc. Here the number before the dash is the chapter number and the part after the dash is relevant to that particular chapter. I have been able to figure out how I can manage the 1.01, 1.11, 1.22... etc , but how can I change the number before the dash i.e. make it 2.01, 2.11 etc.

Any help will be deeply appreciated.

Start each chapter with a paragraph style such as Heading 1. And see attachment.

Hi Kimberley,

Using this I get the numbers that start with 1 like 1-1.0, 1-1.1 etc but I'm unable to get the 2.10, 3.11 kind of numbers, which start with numbers other than 1.

It didn't tell you to use a multilevel list that includes heading styles?

"I have been able to figure out how I can manage the 1.01, 1.11, 1.22... etc , but how can I change the number before the dash i.e. make it 2.01, 2.11 etc."

OK, I am confused. What comes after 1.01?

I guess I have not been too detailed with what I want. Here goes: there are various chapters numbered 1,2,3... For each chapter there are separate numberings like 0.1, 0.2...1.0,1.1...3.2.3.3...etc.

So the part in the number 2-1.0, has the 2 which is before the dash corresponding to the chapter number and the 1.0 after the dash corresponds to the details within the chapter. I'm able to implement the numbering as 1.01,1.02...1.10,1.11... but changing that initial digit to anything other than 1 seems to be a problem.

I hope this clarifies, thanks a lot for trying to help.

LOL, no it didn't help. sorry

Is the following correct?:
Page 1 should look like 1.01.
Page 2 should look like 1.02.
Page 3 should look like 1.03.
Eventually chapter 1 will end, so the numbering will change like this:
Page 1 of chapter 2 should look like 2.01.
Page 2 of chapter 2 should look like 2.02.

What is numbered in the "detail"? Headings? Paragraphs? and how is this relevent to page numbering?...

Or are you really wanting paragraph numbers to display in the footer, and not page numbers at all?

Not the paragraph number. These are more like chapters, followed by chapter sections and then the page numbering within the section. Like 2-1.10, means chapter 2, section 1 of the 2nd chapter and the 10th page in of the section.
