Default Locking Header/Footer on Document but still be able to edit body text (size, font, bold, etc)

Hi--

I am looking for help about locking a header and footer.
I have been tasked with creating our company's letterhead and sharing it as a word document.
I have created the letterhead, added the image to header/ footer, sent it to the back.
I have been asked to "lock" the image, so that the various members of the company have no way to edit/ delete it.

I have successfully done that by making only that "section" read-only. The issue I am having now is that people can edit the text of the document, but they can't edit the text characteristics. For example, I had the font set at Open Sans 10 pt, but if someone wanted to make it 12 pt, they wouldn't be able to. If they wanted to underline a section, they wouldn't be able to. If they wanted to change the color or change the font altogether, they wouldn't be able to.

Does anyone know of any workarounds to fix this?

I made a few different character styles, but I'm not even sure people will be able to use those once the document is in "read-only"

Thank you in advance

See https://wordmvp.com/FAQs/Customizati...PlusHeader.htm. Yes, this does apply to Word 2016!

I suspect you are using protection for forms which is overkill.

If someone is determined to edit or change it, there is NO WAY to prevent that. All you can do is make it more difficult, as in "locks are there to help keep honest people honest."
