Why is it impossible to change a template created by someone else?

Default Why is it impossible to change a template created by someone else?
It seems as though all areas of the template are locked and cannot be modified. Does this mean they are password protected?

Yes. It is highly likely that they are password protected against changes. Why not ask the author?


It could be that the document is in a group content control, as well.
