How to populate word doc with user input?
Hello,
(Word 2013) I have a standard quotation document where each time I do a quote I have to edit in the company name (several times), edit in a length dimension (several times in the document) and put in the date. What I would like is an input form where I just put in company name, length and date ONCE and then my entire word quotation is populated with these 3 values in the required locations. Could anyone please suggest a possible solution on how to satisfy my requirement? Thanks in advance, Michelle |

You can do that quite simply using a document with formfields and cross-references to them, as needed. See the Word 2007/2010/2013 entries under On-Line Form demonstration at: https://gregmaxey.com/word_tip_pages...ting_data.html

See https://www.gmayor.com/insert_content_control_addin.htm which makes the insertion of mapped content controls a breeze. Insert a mapped control and copy and paste it to all the other locations where you require the data. Anything you enter in one of them is repeated in the others.
My old friend Greg Maxey has produced another version developed from this, which has even more facilities, but this one does all that is required by most users without unnecessary frills.

I think it is worthwhile to learn to use either Graham or Greg's utility to map content controls. However, if all you need is the number of variables you mention, the Document Property Content Controls will work. They are already mapped. There is some learning needed there, as well.
