Page number total in footer with section breaks
Hi there
I have a 50 page Word document with multiple section breaks. I have started page numbering on page 4 of the document however on the final page, the numbering says “Page 46 of 50”. How do I change the final numbering to be 46 instead of 50? Thanks |

Use a calculated field e.g.
{ Page } of { ={ NUMPAGES } -4 }

Thanks for your reply. I've tried that, by going into Quickparts, field, choosing equations and formulas from the categories, then copying and pasting the formula you provided into the formula field. However it gives me a syntax error in the footer. Any ideas?

The error is most likely because you used typed braces instead of field braces around 'NUMPAGES'.
An alternative approach is to insert a standard 'page x of y' numbering scheme into your footer, then select the 'y' part and press Ctrl-F9 to enclose that in a new field, thus {50}, then type '=' before the '50' and '-4' after it, so you end up with {=50-4}, then press F9 to update.
