Is it possible to have more than one header/footer style per document? I've compiled 4 books into one document and want to put the book title as a header for each section of the .DOC.
All I can think to do is chop it into 4 different .DOCs and fiddle with the page numbers so it will will look correct when bound. |

oh, no! don't chop it up and fiddle with the numbers!
You can insert a field in your header so that it will display the content of a heading style. This is my favorite as it is dynamic. Position the insertion point and then Insert > Field > Styleref, pick the style. You can also have multiple headers and footers using Sections. (You can have a different header and footer for each section) To insert section breaks, if I recall in 2003, it was Insert > Break > Section break. |

Yes you can.
You need to split your document into sections and then disconnect headers/footers so they are not the same. http://www.mswordhelp.com/2010/06/mi...-document/#num mike |

Personally, I prefer StyleRef. You can choose Heading 1 and it will repeat the text from the previous Heading 1 style in the header (or wherever you want). That way your header is dynamic. You don't need multiple sections for this
Make a template from this and save yourself tons of work if you do this type of thing a lot. |

Thanks! That works like a charm. I've used a big rock to pound nails before, but personally, using a hammer is much better.
<edit> I wanted to come back and say an even bigger THANKS because this really makes a difference in the whole document. I like to print and bind books as a hobby and the correct formatting makes a huge difference when it comes down to the actual reading part. Binding the pages would be impossible without page numbers and now I can turn them off for blank pages, etc. http://picasaweb.google.com/bobosmite/BookSamples# |
