The "group or ungroup text range" control in the developer tab breaks my document up into many pages
Hi
I've been making documents with fillable fields and checkboxes. To keep other parts of the document from being edited, I select the entire document and then hit the "group" option in the controls section of the developer tab. Unfortunately when I do this Word adds huge chunks of white space. For example I might have a 1 page doc that gets turned into half a page of text, followed by 1 page of white space, followed by another half page of text. Anyone know why this is happening? |

I don't know why this would happen.
Have you tried just turning on forms protection instead?

Are there floating objects in your layout?

So some documents are getting broken up but others aren't.
I'm going to try and compare the ones that are to the ones that aren't. I'll look for floating objects. |

I figured it out!
So part of the document was formatted weird When I space-bared through a certain line, about 3/4's of the way through the cursor would jump 3 lines down. So if you're having this problem 1.) Look at the spot where the 'split' occurs, ie. the area right before a huge chunk of white space. 2.) Spacebar / arrow-key through the lines in that area to make sure you can make it all the way across the width of the page without jumping to another line. 3.) Change any misbehaving lines so that you can spacebar arrow-key through the entire line without your cursor jumping to a different line. |

Next time, you might want to try:
Ctrl+Shift+8 (Ctrl+*) and Shift+F1 Neither will change anything in your document but both will change how you see what is going on in your document. See Word's Reveal Formatting Methods. |
