Hyperlinking to Bookmarks in a separate Word document
I have 2 documents--Doc A with bookmarks and Doc B with hyperlinks to those bookmarks. The bookmarks I am creating in Doc A are not showing when I set up a hyperlink from Dob B. I only see "Bookmarks", not specific bookmarks I have created. What am I doing wrong? I have Word 2013. |

Which steps are you using to set up the hyperlink?
In my experience, you need to know the name of the bookmark in order to link to it from outside. Even though there is a bookmark button on the hyperlink dialog, I have not been able to use it when referencing a document rather than a web page. Type the name of the document and then append the bookmark preceded by the pound symbol #. deleteme.docx#test1 |

First, I am going into Doc A and highlighting the text I want to hyperlink to. Then I click on Bookmark and name the bookmark and click Add.
Then, I am going into Doc b and highlighting the text from which I want to hyperlink. When the reader clicks on this text, they should go to the bookmark in Doc A. From here I click on Hyperlink. Select Another doc or Web. Select the Doc A and bookmark. I think I should be seeing a list of the bookmarks I have created in this doc. All I see is "Bookmarks" with no list from which to choose the specific bookmark I want to hyperlink to. |

That is how it works. You need to type #mybookmark at the end of the link. You need to already know the name of the bookmark and type it in.
This is not how it should work. It is how it does work. |

So, for instance, let's say in Doc B the text with the hyperlink is "Scope." At the end of the word "Scope" I type "#scope". Is that right? I type it in Doc B?
Or, the text in Doc A that I am hyperlinking TO? For instance it is also "Scope". Do I put the #mybookmark at the end of Scope in Doc A? |

Oops, I spoke too soon. It worked for the first one. I just entered a second one and when I select Bookmarks, when establishing the hyperlink, it doesn't show.

Quote:
The above is a hyperlink within Document B to the bookmark named scope in Document A, assuming that is named DocA.docx. |
