Default Creating a table of contents that links to subdocuments already created

Hi Guys! First-time poster. Looking forward to learning from you all. I'm a safety and have 80+ word files I want to create a table of contents for. The guys in the field aren't always the most saavy therefore the ease of a simple click will take them to the document and then if necessary, they can print it out. Thanks for the help!

Clarification:

It sounds like you want a table of hyperlinks, not a table of contents. You want one link for each document, not multiple links to places in the documents.

You do not need page numbers?

I would suggest you need to convert all the Word docs to PDF and merge them into a single document so the users can navigate either from the TOC or the bookmarks view in Acrobat Reader.

If the rest of the team is not savvy enough to follow Word links then Acrobat is a better format for your information.

A Table of Contents can be made to span multiple documents via the use of RD fields. See: https://support.office.com/en-us/art...1-499e778dd806

Macropod's suggestion of RD fields to build the TOC is good but the resulting TOC won't be hyperlinked to those other documents which is a shortcoming that might be a showstopper.

Alternatively, one could use INCLUDETEXT fields to link a 'parent' document to all its 'child' documents, and have an ordinary Table of Contents in the 'parent' document. See: https://support.office.com/en-us/art...a-2ff950fb629e
