Default TOC Word do nt show word "SECTION" just style number

Hi
Any ideas how to remove word SECTION from TOC please but retain:

I. INTRODUCTION
II. SUMMARY

etc.

Not complex just a simple fix if one is available. Using White font and hidden text or something?

Many tks

You could use a style splitter - see http://www.gmayor.com/table_of_contents_addin.html which makes the job a simple one.

Hi Graham

We use custom styles.

I've used Heading 1-9. The word SECTION is typed in Heading 1 style before auto number.

I've also got a Ctrl Tab to extend underline across Tab.

I've used Payne numbering assistant to do this in reverse with the word ARTICLE but don't remember how. It was white font hidden text and reduced font size all 3 or a combinaion of 2 of these.
Just can't remember.

I am sure there is a trick for this just wish I could remember it.

Janine

Put the Word SECTION in a separate style, not as part of your numbering.

The trick is to split the styled paragraph, which is what Charles also suggested and which my suggestion facilitates.
