Default changing word count

I want to change the word-count display on a document. I have a 55,000-word doc that I want to appear as an 80,000-word doc. Yes, that's right--I'M CHEATING! But can anyone tell me if there's a way to hack the counter so that it can be changed manually? (btw, i'm on Word 2004 for Mac) Thanks!

In MS Word it is not possible to alter the number of words you actually have to have them physically there. You can probably hack the counter but you would need to know the code of MS Word and since it is closed code you would need to talk to programmers in Microsoft. :-)

So you will have to put there additional 30 000 words. Try to make them at least two letters otherwise it might be suspicious that you have lets say 80k words and 180k characters.

Then change your words into the smallest size (1) or even less so you do not have too much of empty space. You can alternatively hide them in between the paragraphs.

Then make these "bulk" words white so they merge with the bacground.

I must warn you however that these words will be visible when somebody highlits the text.

Let me know how it went. I am really curious. :-)

Thanks. That's an excellent solution. Although, I have to say, it sounds like just about as much work as actually writing a longer piece. Guess i better go dig out my thinking cap. Thanks again!

Well that is true,

sometimes cheating is as hard as not cheating so it is better to write it.

But if you will be stuck, you can use this trick to get additional 10k words, that should work without too much effort. :-)
