Default Page numbering

I have a page numbering in the footer centred. I am trying to have a first page without a number.

I have set page number (headers & footers) to start at zero. I have first page with zero. I tick different first page. The zero moves to the left and is still visible.

How do I juggle these 2 settings to make first page zero invisible. Or is there another setting.

Thanks.

You already have it set to zero. You need the zero to not display.
Am I correct?

Set your header/footer for Different First Page. If you still see the 0 on the first page, edit your footer and delete the number.

Note, all of the links shown are to different places in one web page.

Added information:
If you have section breaks in your document make sure they are not set for Different First Page unless you do not want a page number where they start.

I don't no what you mean by section breaks if you mean a <ctrl> + Enter that is a new page and would have the next page number.

I don't wan't a page zero in the footer. I assumed that if I had a start page as zero and ticked the box different first page then it would not appear. I could hi-light it and make it white I suppose.

This is a television / film script with a title page (no number). The only thing I want on all pages is the last updated date which I have done.

No, I mean a section break which is different from a page break and can be inserted in the Page Layout Tab under Breaks.

No need to make it white. That would cause you problems!
Different first page tells Word that you want the current header/footer on any page except the first page. It also displays a first-page header and footer which should be blank.

You may want to explore the Cover Pages offered by Word under the Insert Tab. If you do, see Cover Page Anomalies.

If you are working for a living using Word as your tool, I strongly suggest you invest some time learning it. The reward to you in time and less frustration will be tremendous.

Thanks. Simply delete the ZERO.

Thanks again.
