I am trying to do some epigraphy using Word, so I'm using several rare ancient fonts.
Sometimes the best way to render an ancient inscription is to use characters from very different, "incompatible" fonts. Everything works fine if I separate the "incompatible" successive characters with one or more spaces. But if I try to make a tight, spaceless combination, the best I can get is a good-looking result in the Word document that does survive a save of the document or passing to the PDF. I'm interested in any suggestions other than using a small image instead of ordinary text (a solution that's a pain to update at a later date, and that I avoid as much as I can). |
