Default How can I add diagonal lines like this?

Using Word 2010, how can I add diagonal lines to mark the correct timing for chords in a chord sheet, as shown in the chord markings in this image?

Also: What's the easiest method of adding vertical lines as shown in the left side of the image?

For the diagonals, simply use the / character on the keyboard.
For the vertical bars, you might need do consider using a suitably formatted table, with cell borders in the appropriate places.

In my example, the diagonal lines are on top of other stuff. Not sure how to do that in Word?

Regardless of whether you're referring to the / in 3/4, etc. or to the / below the E, etc., they can all be created via the standard / character. IMHO, though, that's the least of your layout problems.

The latter. What I'd particularly like to know is how to create a line that shares the same vertical space with the next one (for example, the diagonal line below the E on the first row is mostly sharing the vertical space with the top of the "f" in the word "defumador").

Regarding the vertical lines on the left side, I eventually managed to do it via the "Borders and shading" tool, though it still feels like quite clumsy a solution, especially when I need two or more of them.

What you're trying to do isn't a trivial exercise in Word, as it's not designed for this kind of thing. That said, it is possible. One way is to use suitably-coded EQ fields. See attached. You can view the field coding by pressing Alt-F9 to toggle the field code display on/off.

Note: Depending on your PC's regional settings, you may need to replace the commas in the field codes with semi-colons.
