Default Embedding a text box in a document

Hi

I am using a text box in a word document and I require it to sit in a specific place but it moves all the time. Can I embed it into a word document so it locked into place for all time.

Kind regards,

Gareth

By default, Word inserts textboxes in such a way that they don't move as you play with the body text around them. You cannot prevent them from being moved and have them accessible, however.

Thanks for replying.
Sometimes when I add an image into the page it shift the text book along before I have chance to format it to "in front of text" is there a way to do this before the image hits the page?

If you insert an image and it will overlap the textbox area, something has to give. The best way to avoid that is to ensure there's enough space between the textbox and your insertion point before inserting the image. One of the challenges there can be that you have no control over the image's initial size. However, if you create a table cell with a fixed height and width, then insert the image into that, it will be constrained to fit the cell's size.

Other that that, Word has two options for how images are inserted by default - inline or wrapped. You might try changing the setting to see which works best for you.
