Default Word problem

Am using Microsoft Word 2013.

Now when it starts it does not show the toolbar at the top.

How can I fix this?

Look at the top right of the window for a little icon that looks a bit like a closed file folder with an arrow pointing up.

Click on it and choose "Show tabs and commands."

BTW: Jargon alert: it's called the ribbon, not the menu.
