Exclamation How to write a table of contents in word

Hi I have problems to accommodate my table of contents in word.

1 Intorduction...................................... .................................................5
1.1 Intorduction into topic............................................. .........................5
1.2 Motivation und objective target............................................ ..............6
1.3 Structure of the work.............................................. .........................7

The first item is given in my document. I want to create further sub-items. The problem is that the page numbers 5 in 1st and 2nd line and 6 and 7 at the right side are not straight lined.
My question: Is there any function to create the dots after "topic", "target", "work" automatically that the page numbers at the end of every line are straight lined?

Thanks in Advance

Br

The dots you refer to are called "leader" characters. In Word, go to Help and type "leader". This should give you the information you need. Basically, you need to use tabs, not spaces, to align your numbers, then set the tabs to include leaders.

If you use Word's inbuilt styles in your document (Heading 1, Heading 2, etc) you can generate a table of contents automatically (References, Table of Contents).
