Question How do I update all fields from a new input

Hi
I am a Trainer/Assessor. I need to print documents every day. There are usually 4 to 7 documents, all with date For the date field I use insert date with the auto update box checked. I have them all combined into packs for ease of handling.

The problem is that sometimes I need to print for the next day and if I do then

1. I get the wrong date throughout the document

2. I need to track through and change every occurrence of date before printing

Is there a way to enter the date manually once and have that change reflected throughout the document?

Regards

Tony

Yes, but it would be much easier to give advice on that if you attached the actual document to a post.

I agree with Paul that working with an actual document would be easier.
In the meantime, here are some ideas for recent versions of Word: Repeating Data Using Document Property Content Controls and Other Mapped Content Controls
The field you are inserting is probably the least useful method.

Default Trial document

Thanks guys

As requested please find attached a demo document to show the idea.

I don't want to attach an actual company document due to IP issues

From the attached you will see a simple document, where I need to prefill multiple date fields.

If you multiply a document like this by fifteen students then it is quite laborious to enter the date in each place

I am wanting to enter the date only once and had it populate every instance of date in the document.

On average I have 5 documents per student where I have to sign and date, quite a laborious and time consuming procedure

I hope I have explained my problem clearly and appreciate the help offered

Regards

Default Printing date for tomorrow

I forgot to mention that I quite often prepare work for the next day, so auto update puts the wrong date in

There are no fields of any kind in your attachment. The only 'Date' content is that word followed by a random number of spaces in turn followed by a random number of underscore characters.

If you need one date, to be replicated throughout a document, follow the instructions at Repeating Data Using Document Property Content Controls and Other Mapped Content Controls and use the Publication Date Document Property (Content Control) as the base.

That gives you a Date Picker Content Control. You can change it anywhere in the document and have the change reflected throughout as soon as you leave the content control. This will work so long as the user is using a Ribbon version of Word (Word 2007 or later on Windows, Word 2011 or later - I think - on the Mac). Content Controls do not work well with mobile devices.
