Default repeating two rows (including merge) as table heading

task: align several .docx files to make them look a little more like our standard (non Word) documents

current challenge: a table where the header is two rows high and includes merged cells

question: how to repeat both rows as a header

Thanks in advance for guidance!

You would do it the same way as you would if it were a single row (Note: the second row may not highlight when you define the heading rows to repeat). I have made a dummy table as an example (attached).

I experimented. What I needed to do was
1. unmerge all cells
2. use Table properties > Row > Repeat on the two rows
3. reset the original merge.
Otherwise, I couldn't access the Repeat option when the cursor was in the second row.

Thanks for the tip, which certainly pointed me in the right direction.

If you select both rows, the button to repeat header rows will be active. Note, both rows need to be selected; if you simply are in the second row, the command is not available.
