Default Need advice on Word for somebody not that good

Hi all

I'm hoping you can give me much needed advice. I am writing a club newsletter which I'm doing in Word then putting it through Notepad to wash out any formulas then putting it into Mailchimp to mail out to members.

I grab data from a couple of manufacturers and distributors websites but always inherit the URL. I THINK I saw my very clever Office Admin years ago (can't find her to ask) that she knew a way to delete all the text of the URL from the RHS of the www bit to leave the www only (each URL is unique) then just use Ctrl R to replace the www with nothing. I've called MS Office help but they don't know. Any suggestions?

Also how do you put Word (with tabs) into a Table and make it stay in the column, I've inserted a table, convert text to table but it gets all mixed up. With 40 pages to do it takes me all day to do this. Please can somebody help?

If you're going to use NotePad to remove all formatting, there's really no point in using Word at all. NotePad will remove all formatting, including tables, pictures, etc.

Removing www. is as simple as using Find/Replace, even in NotePad. In Word, you'd first need to convert the URLS to plain text. If you paste the copied content into Word as unformatted text, you'll have the plain text to work with.

Thanks Paul, much appreciated. I use Word first as it is easier and faster to format things first and only takes seconds to put it in Notepad so I'm comfortable with that.

Thew problem is that I have hundreds of URLs to delete and they are all different unique text. I'm trying to tell Word to delete everything to the right of the www. then go back and delete the www. When you do this weekly it is adding many hours to my workload.

It really doesn't matter what exists after the www. If you paste the content into Word as unformatted text, or convert the hyperlinks to static text after a normal paste (e.g. via Ctrl-A, Ctrl-Shift-F9), simply using Find/Replace to delete the www. is all that's required.
