Default find and delet all text within brackets and the brackets themselves

How to delete all names in brackets and the brackets themselves from a document with a single find/replace operation?

John (John)
Robert (Rob)
Maximilian (Max)
Peter (Peter)
Allan (Al)

desired result:

John
Robert
Maximilian
Peter
Allan

I thought this would work, but it doesn't:

Find: (*)
Replace:

Did you check the 'use wildcards' option?

You'll also need:
Find = \(*\)
