Default Footer Issue After PDF Conversion

Hey guys!

I'm making a pdf right now, and I've created a footer that I'm pretty happy with in word, but once I convert it, the space behind the page numbers changes to white and messes it up.

I've attached two images to illustrate: On the top is the view in word (which looks good), and on the bottom is how it looks after I convert to .PDF (which adds white behind numbers).

How do I fix my word doc so when I convert it there is no white behind the page numbers?

Sincerely,
-Mark

Make the part of the document available so we can see how you formatted it, or at least tell us how you created the number and its surround.

Default Here's the doc

Okay no problem!

I created the footer by importing the divider line I wanted as an image, and I created the orange box that is behind the numbers by creating a shape within word (2010) and moving it behind the text.

Here's a section of the doc:

I look forward to resolving this one.
Thanks again guys!

How are you creating the PDF? Are you going to File|Print or using the Create PDF function from within Word (using the Acrobat add-on)? If so, try going to File|Export|Create PDF/XPS Document|Create Adobe PDF.

Hey guys!
I was simply going to file>save as> then selecting .pdf from the dropdown.

I did some more research on this and, in 2010, at that point you had to have acrobat X in order to make the acrobat tab appear. In mine I see no such tab.

Do you know if there are any ways around this - to get an acrobat tab/addin to word 2010?

Word 2010 has the PDF Save As function built-in (typically the 7th item in the dropdown list). You don't need Adobe Acrobat for this.

You're right it is under the 'save and send' 7th option down, however, when I go to save there are no security options to prevent editing to the document, so that method is not sufficient.

That's all you get with Word. If you want to add editing restrictions, you'll need to use Adobe Acrobat Pro to apply them after saving the file from Word. Regardless, that is a completely different topic to the one you started the thread with. How about we stick to one topic per thread???

You're right I did switch from the beginning of the thread. Thanks for pointing that out.

For those wondering how to convert to pdf without errors like I had and to secure the file...

I found a couple online doc to pdf converters that seemed to fix my initial problem.
Just search 'free online word to pdf converter' and you'll find a bunch.

However, none of these offered a way to secure the file though, so for that I found free downloadable software called PDF security 1.0 which works like a charm.

PDF Creator will create the PDFs and provide the security you want without the huge bill for Acrobat and http://www.gmayor.com/pdfcreator_addin.htm will put a button for it on your ribbon

Just tested that software you posted PDF Creator, and I like it because it creates a new tab in word and also you can convert it under print options and it 'prints' to desktop as a .pdf.

Only problem is, it comes out looking awful, the formatting has completely changed. For me that's not going to work. If anyone is having this same issue, the tools I mentioned above work perfectly.
