Default Suggested icons for ribbon ("Save and Send" and "Send as Email")

Who do I go to, to suggest that Microsoft add an icon (or two) to the ribbon? There is a Quick Access function that I've been using for a number of years, and every time I show someone they shout something out loud and act like they won the lottery. It just happened again today. This function really shouldn't be buried because it makes so many people so happy.

Look at how many layers you have to plow through to find it:
  1. Right click an icon on the Quick Access toolbar.
  2. Click Customize Quick Access Toolbar.
  3. Select All Commands from "Choose commands from"
  4. Scroll down to "Send" and click it.
  5. Click Add.
  6. Click the new icon on your toolbar.
Once it's on your Quick Access Toolbar (it SHOULD be on the ribbon), you can send a file as a Word (or whatever Microsoft application you're in) attachment or as a PDF file, and it even types the file name into the Subject field. You just enter the recipient's name and click Send.

Its cousin, "Send to Mail Recipient" lets you send an email from Word without switching to Outlook, and without attaching the document. You send the whole document in the body of the message. Again, you just type in the recipient name and click Send.

Can Microsoft please make these functions more visible??

I don't know that anyone from Microsoft reads anything posted here. This is a forum for help with Microsoft products, but is not a Microsoft Forum.

The whole idea of the QAT is to allow users to put things they find important where they can quickly locate them. It seems you are making appropriate use of the QAT. I have numerous commands on mine, the ones that you suggest are not on it because they are not important to me. Save and Send is available (as Share) on the Backstage (File tab). In earlier versions it was labeled "Save and Send."

I attach a .dotx file which, if placed in the StartUp folder will put your icons on the user's QAT.

Where would you put these on the Ribbon? On which tab would they be most useful? The Review tab? How would that make them more accessible than the File Tab? If you have any version of Word later than Word 2007 you can put them on your Ribbon if you want, following much the same procedure you outline. (Right-click on a Ribbon button and choose Customize the Ribbon.) Modifying the Ribbon in Microsoft Word
